Where Australian
insurance trades.
Sunrise Exchange is the real-time trading platform between Australia's brokers, insurers, and underwriting agencies. A quote, a new policy, an endorsement, or a renewal goes from the broker's own system to the insurer and back, without anyone re-keying it. More than 7.5 million times a year.
The only independent exchange
Sunrise Exchange is not owned by an insurer or a broker network. It is a neutral, technology-driven environment where insurers and brokers connect, exchange data, and deliver insurance with speed and accuracy: Australia's only independent digital trading platform.
It has been that for decades, trusted by hundreds of brokerages and the major insurers, which is why it is described as the digital backbone of the industry rather than one more portal.
From the broker's system
to the market and back
The broker never leaves their broking system. The submission goes into the exchange, the exchange carries it to the insurer or underwriting agency, and the answer comes back onto the same client record: the quote, the policy number, the schedule, the invoice. No duplicate entry, no switching systems, lower cost per transaction.
Every step of the
policy lifecycle
Seven transaction types, across home, motor, commercial, trade, and the other general insurance classes the market trades. Each one is a message from the broker's system and an answer from the insurer's, in real time.
The transactions in detail →Quote
The risk goes to the insurer's rating from the broker's own system; the premium and terms come back onto the same record.
New business
The accepted quote becomes the policy at the insurer, and the policy number, schedule, and invoice land in the broking system.
Enquiry
Policy and claim detail retrieved from the insurer without a phone call, on the client's file.
Endorsement
A mid-term change sent, rated, and confirmed, with the adjustment premium and the updated schedule returned.
Renewal
The renewal invitation, the insurer's terms, and the accepted renewal, in the broker's diary and on the record.
Cancellation
The cancellation and its return premium processed at the insurer and reflected in the broker's ledger.
Lapse
A policy allowed to lapse, recorded at both ends so the book and the insurer agree.

Already inside the systems
the market runs
Over 80% of Australian brokers run an Ebix broking system. Sunrise Exchange is built into every one of them, and accredited or adapted for the others, so a broker applies for access rather than installing anything.
Products launch here,
as transactions
When an insurer or underwriting agency lists a product on Sunrise Exchange, every connected broker can quote and bind it from their own system the same day.
All launches →Built once, in 2001.
Trading ever since.
Launched
Sunrise Exchange opens in July 2001 as a real-time trading platform between Australian insurers and intermediaries.
Duck Creek adapter
Duck Creek builds an adapter for the exchange on its Anywhere REST APIs and offers it to every Duck Creek insurer through its Content Exchange.
SSP SELECT accredited
SSP APAC's SELECT platform joins the exchange through its Ebix Sunrise Connector, extending the broker side beyond Ebix systems.
7.5M+ a year
More than 7.5 million transactions a year across 770+ brokers, 15 suppliers, and 90+ active products.
